“The only thing worse than someone else putting you inside a box…
is you putting yourself inside a box (or rather, the cube.)”

The initial sketch was drawn with pens and markers on toned paper. I was inspired by an inktober prompt “freeze” and immediately thought of an ice cube. Then, my mind went deeper. I thought about maybe having an easel with a painting inside it and a girl staring into it……..frozen.

The next question to ask: what was she painting? What was she dreaming about? A dream. Something that seems unattainable, but is, in fact, attainable.

A hot air balloon. Floating above. Unattainable. Or….waiting to be acquired. Blissfully unaware, of the melting ice beneath her.

I have prepared a 20”x20” canvas with a gradient, icy blue, oil under painting. I am excited to expand on this and make it a surreal fantasy-scape.
