My latest piece… inspired by this poem.
I saw you.
Unfolded and unmasked,
blanketed there in front of me.
Seagulls outside,
sounding away softly.
The angles of your body
cascading as water would
in the ocean’s gleam of morning light.
A shimmering crystal glow,
reflecting the shadows of your spine.
Imagining the tip of my finger gliding
along its smooth edge,
fountains of water trickling below the pad of my fingertip…
causing water to drip down,
onto ripples of blankets.
Bare back and body uncovered,
Glistening before my eyes.
Soft breaths and gentle
tremors over butterfly eyelids.
Your skin inhaled
this new day’s
pure breath of sunlight.
Dandelion.
Skin. Delicate.
I imagine it to be soft.
Lush like a daisy.
Petals of pure perfection…
Putting Venus to shame.
This memory of you
nestled within me,
for it’s all I have left
to remember you by.
It buries itself beneath
the thick undertow
of my obstructed thoughts.
Pulling at the edges of the covers,
It sucks you into it…
and swallows you whole.
Wilting beneath the waves.
